A question about the new translation and GIRM

Now that the new translation and GIRM has received the recognitio for use in Canada, I am left with one sincere question, which I wish someone could answer for me:  What difference will it make?  The priests aren't following the old translation and GIRM.  The bishops are not enforcing it.  What makes anyone believe that the new translation and GIRM will be upheld?
